At First Presbyterian Church, we embrace giving as a joyful responsibility and a response to God’s abundant blessings in our lives. Every Sunday at our morning service, we joyfully sing and dance our offerings down the aisle of the church in the African style. We are transparent in our accounting and financial reporting to the congregation so everyone is assured that their gifts are being used for the purpose for which they were intended.

Financial Giving

Annual Operating Fund: Your generous contributions to our annual operating fund keep our amazing ministries thriving throughout the year. From vibrant worship services to impactful outreach programs, your support enables us to make a difference in our community and beyond.

Capital Campaign: Our ongoing Capital Campaign ensures that our building remains a welcoming and functional space for worship, fellowship, and ministry. Your contributions help fund important upgrades and improvements that enhance our church’s capacity to serve.

Deacons’ Special Offerings: Every quarter, we highlight a different cause through our Deacons Special Offerings. These offerings support organizations such as Wycliffe Bible Translators, Camp Gilmont, the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund (which assists members and neighbors in need), and Hope Clinic (a local health clinic providing care for low-income neighbors). Your donations make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Fundraisers: Throughout the year, we host fundraisers to support important ministries such as Faith Ministry (building houses for families in Mexico), the Guatemala Nutrition Program (providing nutritious meals for children), and our Youth Mission Trip. Your participation in these events helps us extend God’s love and care to those in our local community and beyond.

In-Kind Giving

At First Presbyterian Church, we believe in the power of generosity to improve the lives of people in our community and around the world. Throughout the year, you have the opportunity to give items that make a difference in the lives of others.

Pancake Mix and Syrup: We collect pancake mix and syrup throughout the year to support families in need through our local partner, Good Samaritans of Garland. Your donations provide a delicious and nutritious breakfast to those facing food insecurity in our community.

Aluminum Cans: Donate your aluminum cans to us throughout the year. We sell the cans for scrap and use the proceeds to purchase cows for needy families through Heifer International. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide a cow a year for the past 40 years, empowering families with sustainable sources of income and nutrition.

Christmas Presents: During the holiday season, we collect Christmas presents for children at PCHAS (Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services), spreading joy and cheer to those in need.

Christmas in July Toiletries Drive: Join us for our Christmas in July toiletries drive, where we collect essential toiletry items for Hope’s Door, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives.

Blood Donation Days: Twice a year, we host blood donation days in partnership with Carter Blood Services. Your blood donation can save lives and make a meaningful impact on our community.

Your in-kind donations, whether pancake mix, aluminum cans, Christmas presents, toiletries, or blood, make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you for your generosity and compassion!

Giving Your Time

God has given each of us unique spiritual gifts to make the world a better place. There are countless opportunities for you to give of your time and talents in meaningful ways within our church community.

Teach Sunday School or Volunteer in the Nursery: Share your love for God and children by teaching Sunday School or volunteering in the nursery. Your presence and guidance play a vital role in nurturing the faith of our youngest members.

Serve as an Usher: Extend a warm welcome to all who enter our church by serving as an usher during worship services. Your hospitality and service create a welcoming atmosphere for all who gather to worship.

Join a Lawn Mowing Team: Help us maintain the beauty of our church grounds by joining one of our lawn mowing teams. Your efforts ensure that our church remains a welcoming and inviting space for all who visit.

Join a Ministry Team: Explore the many ministry teams that help maintain our building, support worship services, cultivate a culture of generosity, manage our funds, and more.
